Depression Awareness Week - 21 April - 28 April

Depression Awareness Week™ is a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of depression, and help Depression Alliance raise money to develop and improve the range of services we offer. The theme this year will be 'Employment'.

In support of the Depression Awareness Week, Acas has, today, issued a new advice to employers/managers on how to spot signs of depression in the workplace.

Every year Transplants In Mind organises a week of publicity and events that actively promotes organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
The theme this year is "What are YOU waiting for?"

Everyman Month - June 2007

This June marks the 10th Everyman Male Cancer Awareness Month. This annual focus on prostate and testicular cancer is an ongoing campaign to increase both awareness and funding for vital research into these cancers.
There are many events and activities going on throughout the month and just after, with many ways to show your support.

World Cancer Research Fund's (WCRF) Fruity Friday campaign will be happening on Friday 25 May 2007. Put the date in your diary!

WCRF UK's goal for Fruity Friday is to increase public awareness of the links between diet, nutrition and cancer prevention, and to raise valuable funds for our cancer research and education programmes.

Fruity Friday is a great way to lend your support and get others involved in fundraising activities too!

Mental Health Week 8-14 April 2007

For Mental Health Action Week 2007 the Mental Health Foundation are launching a campaign to increase awareness of the importance of friendships in maintaining good mental health. According to a survey by the Foundation, almost 80% of people know at least two friends who have experienced a mental health problem, yet many don't want to amit their own mental health problems for fear of what friends might think. Reassuringly, 85% of people with mental health problems reported that when their friends did find out, they were concerned and offered support.

As part of their campain they have produced a booklet called 'Keeping us going', which offers help and guidance for people with mental health problems and their friends. You will find further information from our website by clicking here.



No Smoking Day - 14 March 2007

No Smoking Day is an annual health awareness campaign that helps smokers that want to stop. The first No Smoking Day was on Ash Wednesday in 1984 and it now takes place on the second Wednesday in March. The campaign is now in its 24th year and is a firm fixture in the UK calendar because of its continuing success. On No Smoking Day 2006 1.5 million smokers made a quit attempt and millions more used the Day to take a step towards stopping smoking. You can find further information on our website by click here.
