Internal Structure
The NGSU has a small team of officers and employees based at our office in Middleton Cheney and at a number of regional sites, including at Nationwide's Head Office in Swindon and Administration Centre in Northampton.
The General Secretary is the NGSU's Chief Executive and Returning Officer and is elected for a five year term of office. The General Secretary is the prinicpal spokesman for NGSU, leads the Union's negotiating team and advises the National Executive Committee on implementing policies and decisions determined at National Conference.
The President is the Union's chief 'Lay' Officer and is elected for a two year term of office. The President is the Chair of the National Executive Committee and National Conference and is a member of the Union's negotiating team.

Representative Structure
The views and concerns of NGSU members are raised through a Representative Structure. District (branch network) and Department Representatives attend Regional Council Meetings to present the views of their members. Each Region has its own Regional Officer who attends the National Executive Committee (NEC). The National Executive Committee is responsible for implementing Union policy determined at National Conference and representing the views of members expressed at Area Meetings.
